FOR ALBASMA

For Centre of Mentally Challenged Children

Introducing new creative processes and design thinking into the Al Basma Centre, with a focus on their recycled paper products to deliver enhanced value and sustainable growth. This project focuses on the underlying processes behind the design and creation of their products, with the aim of simultaneously increasing product value, design independence and manufacturing engagement for the rehabilitation and development of Al Basma clients.

A key consideration throughout the project was to ensure that the clients remained engaged and enjoyed the new processes and activities. The arts and craft activities formed a key part of the rehabilitation and education services at the Center, and the expression of creativity and individuality has been shown to be beneficial with those with intellectual difficulties. Testing with the clients during the site visits both validated the process engagement and helped to refine our direction and output.
